SCOTTSDALE, Arizona. (Sept.19, 2007) – During the week of Oct. 1, members at The Little Gym will be treated to the most Enchanted classes in
the kingdom. The Little Gym is currently collaborating with Walt Disney Pictures on the upcoming fairy tale, Enchanted, opening in theaters
nationwide Nov. 21.
As part of this collaboration, The Little Gym has developed special Enchanted-themed classes to build excitement about the film while doing
what The Little Gym does best, building children's motor skills. Class music and activities will play off of the theme of the movie for
all age groups. For kids ages three and older, the classes will offer Enchanted activities, adventures
and movement challenges as the gym becomes the magical land of "Gymdalasia!"
In keeping with The Little Gym's focus on positive reinforcement and self confidence building, a strong 'I Can' message will be delivered
as some students face the 'I Can't Queen' during activities and music that pose fun, challenging activities to the kids.
Each class will offer a number of originally composed songs designed to increase imagination, creativity and body awareness.
For an added measure of authenticity, children will be encourage to dress up as their favorite fairy tale character, whether a prince,
princess, frog or otherwise.
"Students and families at The Little Gym are excited about the collaboration with Disney," said Bob Bingham,
President and CEO, The Little Gym International. "We've always aspired to make our classes a magical experience for students and the
Enchanted-themed curriculum will lend a fun, new extension to what we're already doing."
Classes at The Little Gym are based on a carefully developed curriculum and are focused on the sequential building of kids' motor skills.
Each week includes a fun theme, and all activities are age- and skill-level appropriate. In addition, all of the music that accompanies
regular classes is written, performed and produced by The Little Gym.
A classic Disney animated fairy tale meets with the modern, live-action romantic comedy in Walt Disney Pictures' Enchanted. Featuring an all-star cast,
the film follows the beautiful princess Giselle (AMY ADAMS) as she is banished by an evil queen (SUSAN SARANDON) from her magical, musical animated
land and finds herself in the gritty reality of the streets of modern-day Manhattan. Shocked by this strange new environment that doesn't operate
on a "happily ever after" basis, Giselle is now adrift in a chaotic world badly in need of enchantment. But when Giselle begins to fall in love
with a charmingly flawed divorce lawyer (PATRICK DEMPSEY) who has come to her aid -- even though she is already promised to a perfect fairy tale
prince (JAMES MARSDEN) back home – she has to wonder: can a storybook view of romance survive in the real world?
The film was directed by Kevin Lima (Tarzan, Eloise At Christmastime) from a screenplay written by Bill Kelly (Blast From the Past) and will
feature original songs from the reunited team of acclaimed composer Alan Menken and lyricist Stephen Schwartz (Pocahontas, Hunchback of Notre Dame).
The Little Gym concept was developed 30 years ago by Robin Wes, a kinesiologist and educator who conceived the idea of using gymnastics to
help children develop motor skills. The Little Gym promotes a fun and non-competitive environment where children develop vital motor skills
while also learning self-confidence and social skills. The concept has blossomed into a global company serving more than 100,000 children each
year between the ages of 4 months and 12 years old at more than 290 locations in 17 countries.
